It has been a fair amount of time since my last blog post, so I figured why not put one up. Since my last post, I haven't strayed too much from the normal schedule to say the least.
Something very important is going on in the Nordic Community. We are raising money for the future of Nordic Combined. This money helps fill the gap that parents and athletes can't fund and give them the opportunity to grow and become better skiers. Getting over the Europe is a hefty price tag, but everyday over is worth the dollar for a young skier. I remember my first trips over to Europe and they are for sure some of the best ones I have experienced. They have helped me grow as a skier as well as a person. I have experienced many different cultures and ways of living that many people never get to see. I want the younger skier, the national training group, future US Ski team athletes to have the same chance I have. I am truly blessed to be in the situation I am, but sadden to see young athletes not be able to fulfill their goals and wishes.
To help, the National Nordic has stepped in to help offset costs and fund trips to Continental Cups, World Junior Championships, Training Camps, and even equipment. On November 15th, the NNF is holding the Drive for 25. The goal of this event is to see how many $25+ donations each athlete can receive. This money is not going to the athlete for anything besides skiing. It will fund their trips and help pay for equipment.
I am asking everyone that reads this to make a small donation if you can. I have pledge to raise $1000 to help fund the future. If you make a donation of $100 or more I will personally send you a signed bib from a competition I have competed and will get the rest of the team to signed it as well. It is a small gift of gratitude for supporting young Olympic champions.
