Recently I have been taking classes again at Westminster College in Salt Lake City. This has been a very good aspect for me since the USSA has the relationship with the college. Taking classes I feel sharpens your knowledge and will also help you keep functionally in check. I feel when I go to training, I have a better sense of awareness and focus. The classes I was taking were QuickBooks and English 110. Many people thought QuickBooks was an odd class to take, but in reality, it will do so much for your business or personal life. With the knowledge of this system you can keep all your financials in check and also keep them in balance. English 110 was the first feeling of a real school class. This is normally a 16week class, but due to the online schedule it is only 8 weeks. I was able to learn lot about writing functions and style which will help me forever. This class was a research and composition class and my topic throughout the whole course was Fast Food's Marketing towards children. It is an action packed topic and I found it very interesting.
Beside school, I have been very busy with very productive training. I feel I am having my best summer of training ever and I am just starting to roller skis. This whole spring, I was racing bikes for Cole sport and I had a lot of success. This was my first full year racing in the Pro-1/2 category and I loved it. I had a couple podiums, beating out nationally ranked pro team riders. My highlight was earning 3rd in State Championships for Utah. This race was 100 miles of fast racing and It came down to a 20 man sprint, normally I am very bad at sprinting, but I think due to the long hard course, I had a little better legs for the finish. Racing bikes is now over, but I feel that It has increased my endurance and pain threshold which will make me a much better skier. We went to Hinterzarten, German and Courchevel, France for our first big training camp, and It was very successful. Our team uses that as a fundraiser and an endurance camp. Both aspects were great, we raised some great funds for the B team and National training group. I felt like this was a vacation as we having so much fun!
Now I am in FULL Nordic Combined mode. I am super motivated to continue working towards SOCHI 2014. Working with our new jumping coach Mark Noelke has taught me a lot, and I feel our whole team is jumping much better! Personally I feel fantastic, I haven't put to much work in for skiing and I am in alright form with much work to do! I look forward to heading overseas for Summer Grand Prix to see what our level is like and where I need to work more!
Things are looking great, So Stay tuned!
