We just finished our first Europe Camp of the summer. We had four Summer Grand Prix Competitions. We just got back to Utah and finished our last two in Oberwiesenthal, Germany. Oberwiesenthal is a pretty cool little town. We had a really nice hotel right at the bottom of the hill called K1 Sport hotel. Our team first got there on Thursday afternoon and had a quick jumping session that went  really well! That morning we had Official training, then later that night we had our first Comp in the town. Jumping went all right and I wasn't too far out of 3oth. For the race, the town streets were closed down and we had a very hard course that was both technically and physically brutal. As we started to warm up it started to dump rain down on us, making for an even more exciting race. I started 46th at 2 minutes 8 seconds behind the leader. We had to race 6 laps on a 1.8km course in the rain. I was having a lot of fun even though it was very cold and I was later in a lot of pain from pushing myself to the limit. Through the race i was moving up very quickly and was having a very good race. I finished in 14th place giving me my best finish in a World cup event! I also had the fastest time in that race which is very very good for me.
The Second Day was good as well. Jumping didn't go as well for me as I was hoping but I had another good race. I was excited to know that I had the 3rd fastest time, when I didn't feel like I had the best race from the start. I finished 25th which is my second best finish in a world cup event.
All in all this Camp was a very good one. Our team went over and proved that we are a good and young team that is coming up through the ranks!
It is now time from some rest and recovery!

Tomorrow is our last day in Klingenthal, Germany. Continuing our journey of Germany we will be heading to Oberweisenthal, Germany in the morning after a set of intervals in preparation for our last Summer Grand Prix competitions of the summer. So far in Klingenthal we have been focusing on jumping for me and rest for the others. I feel thats exactly what we did. Jumping seems to be going much better than it had been in Oberstdorf. This hill in Klingenthal is one of the larger "BIG HILLS" in the world. Most of my jumps were past 130 meters, but this large hill is capable of jumps over 140meters with out any problems. During our off time from training we heading into Czech Republic which the border is about 5 minutes from our hotel to check out a flee market that is run by a bunch of Vietnamese residents living in Czech.  It was a nice way to mix things up and take a break from skiing for a couple hours! Tomorrow is a busy day for us. We will be doing a 4x4 interval session in the morning and then driving to our next competitions which are Friday night and Saturday morning. If you go to www.fis-ski.com and click on FIS. ticker you will be able to watch the event in a live result format!
Ill do my best to update through the weekend!
Tschuss!

Today was the last competition in Oberstdorf! Things went pretty well for our team. The  1st Comp Day went pretty well after having to use the provisional jump from official training. I started in 50th place and Bryan starting in 19th. Thoughout the race I was able to move up and finish in points  with Bryan Fletcher in 19th and myself in 29th. The highlight of the day for me was my time rank in 2nd place. With the first day in the book I think the coaches were pretty happy! Day too we were able to have a jumping competition. Eric and Brett jumping really well in 9th and 10th. Bryan and I were a little further back in 30th and 52nd. Brett Camerota had a Career best finishing in 9th place over all  grabbing valuable points to get into the top 55 overall rankings! Bryan Finished in 23 Grabbing more points moving him very close to the top 55. For me its was very had. After having what I thought was a better jump, I started futher back from 30th with a big pack a minute ahead of me. I had another very fast race (4th xc rank) but wasn't able to latch onto the pack of 20 skiers 15 seconds ahead of me! Finishing 31st is hard knowing if I have a good jump I could be fighting for a top 15 placing! Today race was very very wet and the racers were racing through standing water!
Now we are off to Klingenthal, Germany for some training before our second set of Competitions in Eastern Germany!
Stay tuned!

Oberstdorf, Germany

Today we had our first jump session in Oberstdorf. Things went alright considering the conditions that we had. Dripping wet suits and some tail wind don't make for the best conditions. First session was this morning and things didn't go so well. After regrouping with some nice lunch and a short rest I went out for another session this afternoon. The second session was much better having a couple jumps over  120 meters. This hill is a lot different than park city, so it is taking me a little to get used to the rythme. Tomorrow our team has offical training with some intervals in the morning. I am looking forward to this weekend as I know I am in good form for racing and jumping is coming along! I will update as much as possible here but internet is limited at the most.
au revoir
