Our final stop in Europe was Ramsau, Austria. Ramsau is a frequent stop for the World Cup Circuit, So I thought it would be very important to focus on every jump I would take on the k90 in Ramsau. During our stay there, the team always stays at the Kielhuberhof, Just outside Ramsau. The family that runs the place are always very excited and friendly when the team comes to stay there. We took several jump sessions on the followed by a time trial and 6 interval sessions. The time trial is a very hard uphill course that has sections at 12% which is very steep. I felt very good, and was able to make up 44 seconds on 1st place but lost in a Sprint to an Olympic Champion (Billy Demong). Also while I was there, I took my first trip to the Atomic Skis factory to pick out my skis for the winter. I am excited to be working with atomic as I think they make the best cross country and jumping skis.

After Predazzo, our team headed to Kranj, Slovenia. It was the first time there for a lot of us. We all knew this was going to be a nice place after we headed to our hotel. We walked in to the room and we saw nice beds and a decent size bathroom. The next day there we took our first jumps on the hill and right away everyone thought it was a very fun and exciting hill. I was pleased right away, as I was having some of my best jumps of the trip right away. That afternoon we drove to Bled the neighboring town and did intervals up at a Biathlon center on the top of a mountain. The course was short, but it was perfect for what we were doing. The following day we jumped in the morning, again having some of my best jumps so far. We were in some good conditions to really put a jump far down the hill. With several jumps at the Hill Size HS 1o9, everyone was ready to move to the next place.
After jumping we had the afternoon off, so the whole team decided to take a trip down to Croatia. With not really knowing where to go, We kind of just picked a place on the Coast and ended up in Umag/Umago. We couldn't really find the beaches we were expecting with Sand and lawn chairs but we found a nice park that had access to swimming and laying out. After a while of relaxing we decided to head back after making a short stop in Trieste, Italy. Trieste was a very beautiful place, with amazing buildings and fountains. While walking around the village, we stumbled upon a Sushi place to get some food. The following day was our last day in Slovenia. In the morning we had another jumping session. Knowing it was our last before leaving, we all wanted to have some fun and make sure we had some long jumps. That day our team had some good company jumping along with us. Some of the Slovenian world cup special jumpers were training along side us. I was able to see what some of the best jumping in the world looks like. Following jumping, We headed back to the hotel, to have some good food and head to Austria! This Past week, we were in Predazzo, Italy. It is Just past the border and the Brenner Pass stuffed in the Dolimite mountains of Northern Italy! While we were here we, had several jumping sessions and several hard cross country sessions. We also did a Time Trial up the mountain road to the ski resort Alpe De Cermis. I thought this was a very good training camp here in Predazzo, for the quality of the facilities and the hospitality of the people. For the second time our team has stayed at the same place "hotel Touring" and they treat our team with such care!
Yesterday after the Time trial, we had the afternoon off, so we went to explore the country side and to go get some coffee up in the mountains. We found a couple places to jump off cliffs into the water, but after touching the water and seeing that it was 41*F we decided it wasn't the best idea! Now after Lunch today we will be driving across Eastern Italy and hitting the Border of Slovenia to go to Kranj. Look for some updates from there, as it his a very cool hill that I have not jump yet and will be working hard on my jumping for the winter! Ciao, Taylor We Just arrived in Europe for our second training camp of the summer. This time we are in Northern Italy in a town called Predazzo. This town is a frequent stop during the winter for world cup competitions, so it's nice to get some training on the hills before winter! Predazzo is a very unique town, right by the Dolimite mountains of Italy! During this camp we will be focusing on Jumping and Speed in cross country. We will be doing many interval sessions with the team and some "In team Competitions" to see where everyone is!
Throughout this camp I will do my best to keep my Page updated, but as always the internet is not the best and sometimes not available! |
