A couple days after that, I had a in-team competition and a time trial on surrounding roads by Whiteface mountain. I had a decent jump and I wasn't too far out of it for a podium finish. Once again I had another strong race and was able to ski up several places to finish 2nd. Our Second race was the Climb To the Castle. Last year I had a very strong showing against one of the best cross country racers in the world to win. This year we had a some different equipment and it was going to make the race much harder. I gave it my all but, I think I actually gave it a little too much and hit a wall pretty early on and limped to the finish to claim 15th.
This weekend was the Flaming leaves competitions and festival. This is a fantastic event that Lake Placid puts on. On both Saturday and Sunday there was jumping competitions and music. I am happy to report that our Nordic Combined team did pretty well by grabbing a podium spot each of the days in the Special jumping competitions. I was 10th and 6th, in two very difficult days of jumping. This morning we had a team sprint, with the young and developing juniors. It was a very fun race, but still very hard. It gave the chance for some of the younger guys to race with the ski team and compare themselves again us.
Now I am heading home, We have a very early shuttle to the airport, then a quick trip home. This next week is off and I will be off the computer, as I am going to recover and relax in Lake Powell with my brother and sponsor.
Taylor!
